Sometimes I have trouble coming up with posts, so I figured the best thing to do is discuss my schooling. Currently I am in my second quarter at LA music academy. The main focus of first quarter was the MAJOR scales. Classes included Intro to Performance, Rhythm studies, Rock and Blues, Theory, Piano, and Sight reading. This quarter is a lot of the same, but Jazz has been added.
From here I’ll try to post on some of the classes I am taking or some of the songs I am learning. For example, in my Rock and Blues class we are studying The British Invasion. It began by studying early blues players like Robert Johnson, Albert King, B.B. King and moved on to players like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton. Last week I was tested on my ability to play “Ticket to Ride” by the Beatles, and this week I am playing “Brown Sugar” by the Rolling Stones. Being George and John last week went well, and I am hoping my Keith Richards imitation is the same. Rock and Roll
